How Vincent Obianodo Made His Money And Built His Empire - From Vulcanizer To CEO!

YES! Chief Vincent Obianodo, Young Shall Grow Motors owner started out as a Vulcanizer. He was a poor Vulcanizer from a humble background.

Chief (Dr.) Vincent Amaechi Obianodo (MON) Full Profile History, List Of Businesses, Investments, Properties, Awards

Chief (Dr.) Vincent Amaechi Obianodo (MON) was born in Umueze Village, Neni in Anambra State. Coming from a humble background, he spent the early years of his life in the village, before moving to Kano as a teenager in search of greener pastures. He started out as a vulcanizer and his ability to perfectly fix tyres (a time when few could do it), got a lot of people queuing up with their motorcycles, bicycles, and vehicles.

After working on the job for some years, the young Vincent decided it was time to change his career path and move onto another business that offered better economic prospect. He began managing buses for some transport companies. In 1972, he quit his job and started a transport business of his own with just one mini-bus that was plying Enugu to Onitsha. As his business grew, in 1973, he moved his key operational base from Onitsha to Lagos and ventured into a more urban commuting transport business, which started with two locally built Mercedes Benz 911 buses. Within seven years of operating from Lagos, his buses grew from just 2 to over 40.

His exceptional customer service delivery continued to attract a lot of people to his transport business, and by 1978, he decided to expand his business further by opening up a new interstate route, plying Lagos to Onitsha to Owerri with a new and cozy Mercedes Benz 0362 Luxury bus. This expansion gained his business more loyalists, and within six years, his buses grew to over 150 luxury buses. Vincent’s accelerated growth all happened while his business was just a mere enterprise and not a registered company. With dreams bigger than anyone he knew could imagine, he decided to incorporate his business in 1984, so he could fully cover every possible part of Nigeria, as the leading inter-state luxury bus company.

Today as one of the foremost luxury bus companies in Nigeria, his bus fleet far exceeds 1,500 in number covering not just Nigerian routes before also other West African countries like Cote d’voire ,Ghana, Burkina Faso. Mali and Benin republic.
